Marie Mayeux Losavio, native of Moreauville, Louisiana, is a registered nurse, notary public and case manager. She volunteered with the local ambulance service in high school and college. She also completed a nurse aide course while in high school, working clinicals predominately in local nursing homes. She then completed a radiologic technology program. Marie completed her nursing degree and worked many years as a bedside nurse, caring for patients of all ages – but she found a particular love for caring for the elderly.
After graduating from Our Lady of the Lake College as a registered nurse, Marie spent the first three years of her nursing career working on the telemetry unit. She then spent the next 15 years working in the perianesthesia department, where she also cross-trained in pain management. During this time, she was also on the quality control/quality assurance committee for the hospital, performing quality assurance for the pre-operative, pain management, and recovery room areas of the hospital. Using her pain management experience, she moved into a chief nursing officer position at a local clinic where she also became certified in infectious control. She was also a case manager for a local regional medical center for five years. Marie is also a member of the Baton Rouge Aging Network and a professional member of the Aging Life Care Association.
For the last seven years, Marie has worked as a case manager as well as an outreach marketing coordinator, assisting her husband, Peter J. Losavio, Jr., at Losavio & DeJean, LLC. Marie uses her medical and case management background to bridge the gap between the care of the patient and the challenges facing healthcare and the funding needed for long-term care. She is also a co-author, with her husband, Peter, for the books You’re Not Alone Living with Alzheimer’s Disease and You’re Not Alone Living as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver. Together, Marie and her husband form a team along with other members at Losavio & DeJean, LLC to assist their clients.
In her spare time, Marie enjoys reading, cooking, photographing, and traveling. She is the mother of two children and the grandmother of two granddaughters.
